Resource Parent Letter
Click hereDear Parent (s) or Guardian (s),
As the new school year begins, let me introduce myself. My name is Jackie Storer, and I will be your child's Case Manager and/or Resource Teacher this year. It is my pleasure to be working with your child. I will be responsible for your child's IEP or 504 Plan and implementation, along with the general education teachers. I will meet with general education teachers frequently to discuss progress, needs, or concerns. Please find attached, my syllabus.
What is a Resource Room?
Resource teachers work as advocates for students with special needs. We try to help students meet their IEP goals and improve study skills, organization, and time management. We do this by instruction during "Resource," and with consultation with general education teachers, teaching assistants, and aides. Resource teachers may also be available to general education teachers to provide accommodation ideas for content areas, testing accommodations, or assist in the general education classroom when possible.
How are Resource students encouraged to help themselves?
Respectfully,
Jackie Storer

- Pay attention in class.
- Take notes.
- Outline material from text.
- Review materials daily; orally if possible.
- Proofread all papers before handing them in.
- Write assignments down when they are given, and check them off when they are completed.
- Ask teacher to check assignments or notes, and assist with corrections before final grading.
- Ask teacher for more clarification or samples to make materials clear.
- Utilize Resource time wisely, and get extra help after school if necessary.
- STUDY!!!!!
